महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री मेनका गांधी द्वारा दिया गया सुझाव जनसंहार की दिशा में

भारतीय राष्ट्रीय महिला फेडरेशन  महिला और बाल विकास मंत्री मेनका गांधी के द्वारा दिये  गये बयान की भर्त्सना करती है , जिसमें उन्होंने कहा है कि गर्भ में बच्चे की लिंग पहचान करने को अनिवार्य बनाया जाय . यह एक बहुत ही प्रतिगामी स्टैंड है और यह देश में कन्या-भ्रूणहत्या को और बढ़ावा देगा . भारतीय महिलाओं और उनसे जुड़े संस्थाओं के लम्बे संघर्ष के बाद पितृसत्तात्मक मानसिकता/सोच के कारण होने वाले लिंग-निर्धारण को रोकने के लिए पीसीपीनडीटी लागू हुआ. मंत्री महोदया को इस अधिनियम के क्रियान्वयन के लिए हरसंभव प्रयास/कोशिश करनी चाहिए. जो महिलाएं आशा कार्यकर्त्ता के रूप में काम कर रही हैं उन्हें कार्यकर्ता की तरह न मानकर, श्रमिकों की मान्यता दी जाये और इससे जुड़े सभी फायदे दिये जायें.

लिंग निर्धारण को मान्यता देने की बात में कुछ खास लोंगों का इसमें स्वार्थ निहित है. अस्पताल में प्रसव बढ़ाने के नाम पर यह कदम महिलाओं के लिये जनसंहार साबित होगा.

इसलिए भारतीय राष्ट्रीय महिला फेडरेशन इस बयान को और इस तरह का कोई भी कदम को तुरंत वापस लेने की मांग करती है.

The National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) strongly condemn the statement of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maneka Gandhi on making sex determination mandatory.

This is a very retrograde position and will lead to increase in female foeticide in the country.. The PC PNDT has been brought through numerous struggles by Indian women and their organisations to stop sex determination due to a patriarchal mind set. The Minister must make all effort to see that the implementation of this Act is done properly.  The women who work as ASHA must be given worker status and all the benefits as workers, not as volunteers

The move to make sex determination is nothing but a ploy to serve vested interest in the country. In the name of increasing hospital deliveries, this move  will result in genocide of women.

NFIW therefore demand immediate withdrawal of this statement and any such move by the government in this regard.
